Ingrid Montserrat of Mount Olive Named Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Ingrid Montserrat of Mount Olive has been named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week for women’s tennis for the week ending April 3, 2022.
The junior from Tarragona, Spain has now won the award three times in the 2021-22 season.
Montserrat was 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles last week. In Mount Olive’s 7-0 team conference win over King on April 1, Montserrat first teamed with Deike Schipper to best Mireia Mas Ortega and Marilyn Roustand of King, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles. Montserrat then picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Deniz Aytun at No. 1 singles.
In Mount Olive’s 6-1 team league win over Lees-McRae, Montserrat again teamed with Schipper to down Mei Hiramatsu and Zeynep Cakirer, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles. Montserrat then collected a 6-2, 6-4 win over Hiramatsu at No. 1 singles.
