Zeth Brower of Lander and Jake Nicolosi of Mount Olive Named NWCA Finalist for Wrestler and Rookie of the Year
MANHEIM, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association announced on Tuesday, April 5, the finalists for both the Division II Wrestler of the Year and Rookie Wrestler of the Year awards and a pair of South Atlantic Conference Carolinas wrestlers were named.
Lander redshirt sophomore Zeth Brower, who was chosen as the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Year, is the NWCA Wrestler of the Year finalist for Super Region 2. Brower completed an unbeaten 18-0 season by claiming the 2022 NCAA Division II national championship at 141 pounds. He also was the Super Region 2 champion at 141 pounds in his first season with the Bearcats.
Mount Olive freshman Jake Nicolosi is the Super Region 2 Rookie of the Year finalist after qualifying for the 2022 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships at 157 pounds after earning a runner-up finish at the Super Region 2 tournament. He finished his first collegiate season 26-5.
