Limestone and Converse to Meet in 2022 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship Final on Sunday

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Top-seeded Limestone and third-seeded Converse advanced to the team final of the 2022 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship with semifinal victories on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

The two teams will meet in the final at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 10 at the Student Center Complex on the campus of King University.

The top seed and the regular season champions in 2022, Limestone picked up a 258.635-233.905 win over fourth-seeded Belmont Abbey to secure a spot in the final for the first time in the two-year history of Conference Carolinas acrobatics & tumbling.

Limestone held a narrow 36.025-35.025 lead over Belmont Abbey after compulsory, but a dominant 28.700-21.950 advantage in acro is what changed things completely in the matchup with the Saints holding the scoring advantage in pyramid, toss, tumbling and the team event from there to collect the semifinal win. The victory kept the nationally sixth-ranked Saints perfect at 10-0 overall. Belmont Abbey closed out its season with a record of 6-5.

In a rematch of last year's final, third-seeded Converse was able to use a strong start in the meet to eventually secure a 258.120-249.865 win over second-seeded King. Ranked 10^th nationally, Converse held the scoring advantage in compulsory, acro, pyramid and toss before nationally ninth-ranked King collected a 50.850-50.100 advantage in toss. Converse would rebound with a 87.670-85.340 scoring advantage in the team event to emerge with the win and advance to its second straight appearance in the final. The 2021 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling champions improved to 9-2 overall on the 2022 season. King closed its season at 8-2 overall.

In addition to the team championship at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Conference Carolinas will also host the Individual Event Finals at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 10. Conference Carolinas also held an awards banquet to start semifinal Saturday. Learn more about the 2022 all-conference performers here.
