Conference Carolinas Places Four in Third NCAA Southeast Regional Ranking

GREENVILLE, S.C. – North Greenville, UNC Pembroke, Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive represented Conference Carolinas in the third NCAA Southeast Region Baseball Rankings, which were released by the NCAA on Wednesday. 
 
North Greenville, who captured its fourth consecutive Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship at Historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson, North Carolina, is the top team in the region with an overall record of 45-8. The Crusaders are currently hitting .337 and pitching to a 3.62 ERA over 447 innings this season.
 
UNC Pembroke came in at No. 5 in the region with an overall record of 38-15. The Braves finished third in the conference tournament and are hitting .319 on the year and have a 4.75 team ERA, which ranks third in the league. 
 
Belmont Abbey was ranked sixth in the region. The Crusaders are 34-17 on the season after falling to Mount Olive and North Greenville in the conference tournament, the two teams that played for the championship title. The Crusaders are hitting .293 on the season but have pitched to a 4.67 team ERA, which ranks second in Conference Carolinas. 
 
Mount Olive joined the region rankings for the first time this season after falling 7-6 in 10 innings to North Greenville in the conference title game. The Trojans are 34-20 on the season with a .299 batting average and a 5.25 ERA. 
 
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee leading up to the NCAA Championship selections.
