Chaija Olsson of Mount Olive Named USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American/IWLCA All-Region
SPARKS, Md./GREENVILLE, S.C. - USA Lacrosse Magazine named its Division II Women’s Lacrosse All-Americans and the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its 2022 Division II All-Region teams and Chaija Olsson of Mount Olive represented Conference Carolinas on both lists.
The 2022 Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, Olsson led the Trojans to an undefeated league season and a 14-5 overall record which culminated in winning the 2022 Conference Carolinas Women’s Lacrosse Championship. A 2021 IWLCA Second Team All-South Region selection, Olsson was named to the first team in 2022. USA Lacrosse Magazine named her a Third Team All-American defender.
A 5-foot-8 redshirt senior defender from Snoqualmie, Washington, Olsson led the Trojans with 66 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers to go with 30 ground balls and three points on one goal and two assists. She averaged 3.67 draw controls and 1.44 caused turnovers per game this season and helped the Trojans to allow just 39 goals in league play en route to a 9-0 record and the league regular season title.
