Evan McLean of UNC Pembroke Earns Second Straight Baseball Freshman of the Month for April
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Evan McLean of UNC Pembroke has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for baseball for April.
A right-handed pitcher from Greenville, North Carolina, McLean went 4-0 in five starts with a 2.84 ERA in the season’s final month to earn his second straight Freshman of the Month honor. He began the month with a victory over then No. 5 North Greenville as he allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits with seven strikeouts over five innings. He also earned wins over Barton, Mount Olive and Emmanuel to help the Braves to the No. 2 seed in the conference championship. He tossed 22.2 innings on the month and allowed seven earned runs with 20 strikeouts and a .205 batting average against. He improved to 7-1 on the year.
