Conference Carolinas Qualifies 12 for 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships
INDIANAPOLIS – The 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will feature 12 student-athletes from Conference Carolinas.
The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee announced the participants for the upcoming Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Tuesday, May 17.
Mount Olive led Conference Carolinas with four selections in Justin Burnette (200m), Jon Wojcuich (Hammer Throw), Mary Brigid Keck (Hammer Throw) and Candy Lockett (Hammer Throw).
Lees-McRae had three selections to the upcoming championships in Brian Sims Jr. (400m), Britney Augustin (400m Hurdles) and Zai Fraiser (Triple Jump). UNC Pembroke had two selections in Joshua Chepkesir (10,000m) and Quanterra Harrison (400m Hurdles). Emmanuel also had two selections in Sulaimane Bangura (400m) and Jharna Alston (200m).
The final Conference Carolinas qualifier was Mycherie Onwuzurukie (Long Jump) of Southern Wesleyan.
A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. The championships will be held May 26-28 in Allendale, Michigan at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium. Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on
