Azeez and Vendrell Chosen to Academic All-District® 3 Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams Selected by CoSIDA

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Two Conference Carolinas student-athletes have been chosen to the 2021-22 Academic All-District® 3 Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams.
 
The teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Tobi Azeez of Mount Olive men’s volleyball was chosen to the Men’s At-Large Team for the second consecutive year. A senior, Azeez boasts a 3.98 grade-point average as a Biology major.
 
María Belén Vendrell, a senior on the women’s tennis team at Converse, was selected to the Women’s At-Large Team. The international business & economics major owns a 3.99 GPA.
 
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
 
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
