Six Conference Carolinas Baseball and Softball Student-Athletes Chosen to Academic All-District® 3 Team Selected by CoSIDA
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Six Conference Carolinas student-athletes have been chosen to the 2021-22 Academic All-District® 3 Baseball and Softball Teams.
The teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Two UNC Pembroke student-athletes were chosen to the Academic All-District® 3 (Conference Carolinas, Peach Belt Conference and South Atlantic Conference) first team in Branden Kunz and Wellington Guzman. A graduate student with a 3.96 grade-point average, Kunz, a pitcher, is a business administration major. Guzman, a senior infielder, is an information technology major with a 3.54 GPA.
Four Conference Carolinas student-athletes were selected to the Softball Academic All-District® 3 first team in Jordan Adcox and Mary Sells of UNC Pembroke, Camryn Haag of King and Ashtyn Patterson of Francis Marion. A catcher, Adcox is a senior biology major with a 3.86 GPA, while Sells, an infielder, is a graduate student with a 3.59/3.33 GPA. A senior infielder, Haag owns a 3.31 grade-point average as an exercise science (kinesiology) major. Patterson, a senior infielder, boasts a 4.00 grade-point average as an art education and psychology double major.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
