Five Conference Carolinas Seniors Named to USILA Senior All-Star Game

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced the rosters for the 2022 USILA Senior All-Star Games, sponsored by Dynamic, slated for Friday, May 27 at Providence College and four Conference Carolinas student-athletes were named to the team.

Andrew Avarello and Jake Mackenzie will represent Mount Olive while Noah Haas and Austin Hasen will compete for Belmont Abbey. The four student-athletes will be on the south team. 

Avarello will man the goal after a stellar year that saw him selected Conference Carolinas Second Team All-Conference, 2022 Conference Carolinas All-Tournament team honoree and countless All-Region honors. Avarello finished the season second in the league in goals against average (9.86), save percentage (.592) and saves per game (13.06). 

A short stick defensive midfielder, Mackenzie was a 2022 Conference Carolinas First Team All-Conference and USA Lacrosse Magzaine Honorable Mention All-American selection as he led the league with 6.06 ground balls per game with 97 on the season. He caused 12 turnovers on the year and had nine points on six goals and three assists. 

Shein, a 2022 Conference Carolinas First Team midfielder and USILA/Dynamic South All-Region selection, will play midield for the South team. A senior from British Columbia, Canada, Shein finished second on the Trojans with 34 points on 26 goals and eight assists. He put 69 percent of his shots on goal and collected nine ground balls.

Haas, a junior midfielder from Gulf Breeze, Florida, finished the season second on the team with 45 points on 36 goals and nine assists. He put 64 percent of his shots on goal this season and earned first team all-league honors. He also earned Lacrosse Magazine Third Team All-America honors. 

Hasen, the 2022 Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year, led the Crusaders with 58 points on 41 goals and 17 assists with 81.5 percent of his shots on goal. He also had seven caused turnovers and 14 groundballs. 
 
The DIII game will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the D I/II game will commence at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be live streamed by the Lax Sports Network at ftfnext.com/lsn
