Alston, Burnette, Fraser Compete on Day Two of NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships
RESULTS | ALLENDALE, Mich. – The second day of the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the GVSU Track & Field Stadium on the campus of Grand Valley State saw three Conference Carolinas student-athletes compete.
Jharna Alston of Emmanuel was the highlight of the day in the women's 200m as she won her heat and finished theirs overall with a time of 23.52 to earn a spot in Saturday's final at 4:50 p.m.
Zai Fraser of Lees-McRae was the first to compete as she was the first jumper in the second flight of the women’s triple jump where she placed 13th with a mark of 12.15m (39-10.5), her second-best mark of the season.
Justen Burnette of Mount Olive was the other league competitor as he finished 12th in the 200m with a time of 20.956. He finished third in heat number three and missed qualifying for the event finals by .003 seconds. It’s the second-fastest time he’s run this season.
The championships conclude on Saturday, May 28 and Conference Carolinas has two more chances at an All-American as Sulaimane Bangura of Emmanuel will compete in the men’s 400m at 3:05 p.m. and Alston will wrap up the championships at 4:50 p.m.
