LOS ANGELES - North Greenville's historic 2022 season came to a close on Tuesday evening at Pauley Pavilion in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-16) NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship loss to defending national champion and current nationally top-ranked Hawaii.
The Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament champions, North Greenville concluded its 2022 campaign with a 21-6 overall record. To originally advance to the matchup against Hawaii, North Greenville made history by sweeping Princeton on Sunday, May 1 to become the first-ever Conference Carolinas men’s volleyball team to claim an NCAA Tournament victory.
Gregory Torres led North Greenville in its loss with 12 kills. Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year Michael de la Cruz finished with four kills and two aces. Sergio Carrillo had 20 assists in the match, while Emanuel Adames finished with three kills and two blocks.
Spyros Chakas of Hawaii tied Torres for the match high with 12 kills to go along with his four digs. Dimitrios Mouchlias had 10 kills and five digs.
