Conference Carolinas Trio Holds Firm in Latest NCAA Southeast Regional Ranking
GREENVILLE, S.C. – North Greenville, UNC Pembroke and Belmont Abbey represented Conference Carolinas in the second NCAA Southeast Region Baseball Rankings, which were released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
North Greenville, who is the top seed in the Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship being played at Historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson, North Carolina May 4-8, is the top team in the region with an overall record of 41-8. The Crusaders enter the postseason hitting .343 and pitching to a league-best 3.67 ERA.
UNC Pembroke has pushed its win streak to eight and is ranked fourth in the region with a 36-13 overall record. The Braves rank third in the league in average (.316) and ERA (4.70).
Belmont Abbey was ranked sixth in the region. The Crusaders have won nine straight contests and enter the Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship with a 34-15 record. The Abbey are hitting .295 on the season but are second in the league with a 4.58 ERA.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee leading up to the NCAA Championship selections.
