Historic Season for Mount Olive Women’s Tennis Concludes in NCAA Tournament

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament champion Mount Olive bowed out of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 loss to regionally second-seeded and nationally 11th-ranked Flagler.
 
The nationally 59th-ranked Trojans closed out their tremendous 2022 season with a 17-3 overall record. Southeast Region #2 host Flagler (17-7) will next face the winner of the No. 3 Queens and No. 6 Newberry matchup. The Southeast Region #2 final will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 7. 
 
The first match of Southeast Region #2 opened with Flagler taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Mount Olive duo of Jessica Aylward and Bipasha Mehn were up 5-4 at No. 3 doubles when the doubles point was clinched by Flagler.
 
Flagler would garner wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles to close out the match. Mehn was also leading 6-2, 4-3 at No. 6 singles and about to take the point over Addison Breunich when the match was clinched.
