Conference Carolinas ‘Body, Mind, and Soul’ Feature Series Honored in CoSIDA Stabley Writing Contest
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas “Body, Mind, and Soul" feature series was named the national runner-up in one category and was also honored with “Best in the District” honors in CoSIDA’s annual Fred Stabley Jr. Writing Contest.
Conference Carolinas was awarded the honor for national runner-up for a feature on King 1,000-point scorer and NASA intern Trinity Lee (
story). The special feature was tabbed national runner-up in the “Social Justice/Diversity & Inclusion” category.
In addition to earning national runner-up accolades, the story on Lee was also honored with “Best in the District” honors. Two more stories also received runner-up honors for “Best in the District” in a feature on Emmanuel swimming All-American Natalie Hayes in the “Athlete Profile” category (
story) and a special feature on Conference Carolinas Commissioner Chris Colvin in the “Coach/Administrator Profile” category (
story).
Conference Carolinas has now won “Best in the District” honors for two consecutive years with Conference Carolinas claiming best in District 3 last year also for its profile on Michael Neustifter of North Greenville.
The “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature series is a collaboration between public relations legend Bob Rose and Assistant Commissioner for External Relations Brian Hand.
Rose and Hand work with the entire Conference Carolinas office and its member institutions to help tell the stories. Rose is a longtime sports public relations executive who has worked for the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, the NFL Cardinals, Cal, Stanford and other organizations.
The series of “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature stories have led to local, regional and national coverage with Neustifter even featured by
Sports Illustrated after the release of the “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature. Neustifter was also profiled on Perfect Game College Baseball on MLB Network on radio and on WYFF and WLOS.
