Jon Wojcuich of Mount Olive and Brian Sims Jr. of Lees-McRae Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team
AUSTIN, Texas - Jon Wojcuich of Mount Olive and Brian Sims Jr. of Lees-McRae have been chosen to the 2021-22 Academic All-America® Men’s Track & Field / Cross Country Third Team.
The teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Sims Jr., a senior from Birmingham, Alabama, is a 4.0 History major who won the 400 meters at the 2022 Conference Carolinas Indoor Conference Championships and earned NCAA All-American honors. He also qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the same event.
Wojcuich, a senior from Beulaville, North Carolina, owns a 3.98 GPA in Exercise Science. The two-time Conference Carolinas Scholar Athlete of the Year and 2022 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, earned NCAA All-American honors in the men’s hammer at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
