Conference Carolinas Places 12 on CSCAA 2022 Individual Scholar All-American List

RICHMOND, Va. - The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named 1,206 swimmers and divers to its Scholar All-American Team for the 2021-22 season and Conference Carolinas placed 12 student-athletes on the team.
 
Emmanuel led the four Conference Carolinas institutions honored with seven honorees while UNC Pembroke and King each had two and Barton had one. 
 
Natalie Hayes, Thiago Rosa and Mykhailo Semenov were named to the first team for the Lions while Alexandra Cerbino, Amadeusz Kielczewski, Enzo Kihara and Susana Ungo earned second team recognition. 
 
Jamie Edwards and Jan Kuljack were named to the second team for the Tornado while the Braves’ Gillian Manning and Mariel Mencia also garnered second team recognition. Barton was represented by Kleanza Cathers as a first team honoree. 
 
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship.  Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet. The award-winners studied a multitude of subjects ranging from A (Accounting) to Z (Zoology). More than a third (35%) of all award-winners are pursuing a major in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) field. Business majors were the second-most represented with 23% of recipients followed by the social sciences (13%). The most popular majors were biology, exercise science, psychology, business administration, mechanical engineering, and finance.
