Chlup, Casbarro Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The 2022 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-America Teams were released and announced at the Opening Banquet of the NCAA Division II National Championship Finals. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division II All-America Committee.
Marek Chlup, the 2022 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year from North Greenville, was named First Team in the outfield while Jack Casbarro of Mount Olive was named to the second team at second base.
Chlup, who was also named NCBWA and D2CCA Second Team All-America last week, is a native of Cesky Dub, Czech Republic, and has hit to a .398 average with a 1.179 OPS. He has scored 66 runs and driven in 72 with 20 doubles, three triples and 12 home runs. He has stolen 29 bases and drawn 41 walks on the year.
Casbarro, a 2022 D2CCA Third Team All-American at second base, hit .345 this season with a 1.037 OPS. The Mount Olive, North Carolina native scored 78 runs and tallied 60 RBIs with 10 doubles, two triples and 15 home runs. He also tallied 33 stolen bases.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and High School. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 13,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
