Nine Student-Athletes, Three Conference Carolinas Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field All-Academic Athletes and Teams on Wednesday.
Conference Carolinas had nine student-athletes and three institutions earn honors. Mount Olive had seven recipients while UNC Pembroke and Lees-McRae each had one. Lees-McRae and North Greenville had both the men’s and women’s programs earn the team awards while the Mount Olive women’s team earned the award as well.
The seven Trojan student-athletes to earn the recognition were Mary Brigid Keck, Cas Kopmels, Candise Lockett, Kierra Mcneill, Jaiden Moody, Daniell Trimbur and Jon Wojcuich. Joshua Chepkesir earned the honor for the Braves while Brian Sims Jr. represented Lees-McRae.
To be named an NCAA Division II All-Academic Student-Athlete, honorees are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25, completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester and have achieved an automatic- or provisional qualifying mark.
To be named an NCAA Division II All-Academic Team programs must have a cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution’s NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher.
There were over 800 student-athletes and 200 teams to earn the recognition.
