Nine Conference Carolinas Volleyball Teams Honored With USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Nine Conference Carolinas volleyball teams were honored with the prestigious United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year.
The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
In total, the nine Conference Carolinas volleyball teams were part of over 1,200 teams to collect the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. A total of 147 NCAA Division II women’s volleyball programs acquired the honor, while 31 men’s volleyball teams in all divisions picked up the academic honor.
Both the Belmont Abbey men’s and women’s volleyball teams earned the honor, while the Emmanuel women’s volleyball team was also named to the Academic Honor Roll (top 20 percent of GPAs in Division II women's volleyball).
