Conference Carolinas Places 665 Student-Athletes on 2021-22 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards List

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) announced the 2021-22 recipients of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards and 655 Conference Carolinas student-athletes were recognized. The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 15th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.
 
Barton led Conference Carolinas institutions with 97 student-athletes being recognized while Belmont Abbey added 93. King was third in the league with 89 student-athletes while Chowan (75) and UNC Pembroke (74) had more than 70 student-athletes honored. Converse had 66 student-athletes on the list followed by Erskine (65), Lees-McRae (59) and Francis Marion (47).
 
In total, there were a record breaking 16,639 student-athletes from 169 institutions recognized for the 2021-22 Academic Achievement Awards. This is the most student-athletes being recognized since the inception of the award's program. 
 
Since the inception of the award's program in 2007-08, there has been a total of 127,854 student-athlete nominees recognized for their academic achievements at the Division II level.
 
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues-paying member of the D2 ADA. Also, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
