Fletcher Dyson of Lees-McRae and Axel Engren of Mount Olive Collect Inaugural Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Fletcher Dyson of Lees-McRae and Axel Engren of Mount Olive have collected the inaugural weekly honors for Conference Carolinas men’s soccer in the 2022 season.
Dyson was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Engren garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors.
A sophomore midfielder from Aylsham in north Norfolk, England, Dyson was the only Conference Carolinas player to score in multiple games in the opening week of the regular season. Dyson first scored in Lees-McRae’s season-opening 2-2 tie with Lander before also scoring from the spot in the Bobcats’ match with Mars Hill. His two goals on the season are tied for the most in Conference Carolinas through two games.
A sophomore goalkeeper from Sundsvall, Sweden, Engren was stout between the pipes in Mount Olive’s perfect 2-0 start. Engren made a combined 12 saves in Mount Olive’s two regional wins over Catawba and Newberry. In Mount Olive’s season-opening 2-1 win over Catawba on Aug. 25, Engren made eight saves. Engren followed that up by registerning four saves in Mount Olive’s 3-2 win over Newberry on Aug. 28.
