Jasmine Finkley of Converse, Katie Harless of King Named Women’s Volleyball Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Jasmine Finkley of Converse and Katie Harless of King were selected as the Conference Carolinas weekly award winners for women’s volleyball for the week ending Sept. 11.
Finkley was selected as the Player of the Week, while Harless earned Specialist of the Week accolades.
A native of Blythewood, South Carolina, Finkley led the Valkyries to a 3-0 week and their first conference win of the season as she tallied 46 kills and hit .444 with three service aces, 11 blocks and 11 digs. She started the week with 15 kills, four digs and two blocks while hitting .360 in a five-set win over Erskine in the Valkyries’ conference opener. Over the weekend, the 6-foot-2 middle blocker tallied 17 kills and hit .520 with two aces and seven blocks in a four-set win over Young Harris before adding 14 kills on a .444 attack percentage, three digs, two blocks and a service ace in a four-set win over Fayetteville State.
Harless, a 5-foot-10 junior setter/right side, averaged 10 assists and 3.75 digs per set in helping the Tornado to a pair of non-conference wins on the week. In a four-set win over Bluefield State to begin the week the Abingdon, Virginia native dished out 42 assists, collected 11 digs, had three service aces, two blocks and a kill. She added 38 assists, 19 digs, two blocks, two kills and a service ace in a four-set win over Emory & Henry on Saturday.
