Hailee Blankenship and Katie Harless of King Named Women’s Volleyball Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Hailee Blankenship and Katie Harless of King were selected as the Conference Carolinas weekly award winners for women’s volleyball for the week ending Sept. 18.
Blankenship was selected as the Player of the Week, while Harless earned Specialist of the Week accolades for the second straight week.
A native of Goode, Virginia, Blankenship averaged 3.69 kills, 2.77 digs and one service ace per set in leading the Tornado to a 3-0 week in league play. The junior outside hitter/right side began the week with 13 kills, 18 digs, three aces, two blocks and two assists in a 3-1 win over Erskine on Wednesday, Sept. 14. On Friday, she posted 17 kills, six digs, six aces, three blocks and two assists in a five-set win over Lees-McRae. She wrapped up the week with 18 kills, 12 digs and four service aces in Saturday’s four-set victory over Southern Wesleyan.
Harless, a 5-foot-10 junior setter/right side, averaged 9.77 assists and 3.08 digs per set as she facilitated the King offense on the week. The Abingdon, Virginia native opened the week with a career-high 44 assists, 17 digs, one service ace and one block in the win over Erskine. On Friday she tallied 36 assists, 13 digs and three blocks in the victory over Lees-McRae before setting another career-best with 47 assists to go with 10 digs and three blocks in Saturday’s victory over Southern Wesleyan.
