Mercy Bell of UNC Pembroke Named United Soccer Coaches Division II Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo.The United Soccer Coaches (USC) announced its College Player of the Week awards on Wednesday afternoon and Mercy Bell of UNC Pembroke earned NCAA Division II women’s soccer honors.
 
The back-to-back Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week, Bell scored three goals and dished out one assist for seven points to help the Braves to a 2-0 week. The 5-foot-8 freshman forward from Jacksonville, Florida opened the week with both goals in the Braves’ 2-1 comeback road victory over Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, Sept. 14. She then added one goal and an assist in Saturday’s 8-0 conference win over King. On the week, Bell put nine-of-11 shots on goal in 133 minutes of play.

Last week, Bell posted 10 points on four goals and two assists as the Braves went 3-0 which included a pair of conference wins. Bell currently leads Conference Carolinas in goals (seven) and points (17) while being tied for second in assists (three).
