Emily Hein of Mount Olive and Makayla Willets of Francis Marion Named Women’s Soccer Players of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. Emily Hein of Mount Olive and Makayla Willets of Francis Marion have earned the weekly honors in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer for the week ending Sept. 4.
 
Hein earned Offensive Player of the Week honors while Willets took home Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

A sophomore forward, Hein scored two goals on three shots in a 1-1 week for Mount Olive. The Binghamton, New York native notched four points on her two goals in the 6-2 win over Lincoln Memorial with the second being the game-winner. On the week, she attempted five shots and put four on frame for the Trojans in 81 minutes of action. Hein currently leads Conference Carolinas with three goals in four games. 

Willets, a senior goalkeeper from Mastic, New York, continued her incredible run to begin the 2022 season as she collected her second shutout of the year in a 1-0 road win over Newberry. Willets stopped a would-be go-ahead goal in the 76th minute which allowed the Patriots’ offense to earn the win. Willets has allowed just one goal during the run of play in 270 minutes of game action this season.
