UNC Pembroke Duo, Vanja Przulj and Katie Pressley, Named Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Vanja Przulj and Katie Pressley of UNC Pembroke were selected as the Conference Carolinas weekly award winners for women’s volleyball for the week ending Sept. 4.
Przulj was selected as the Player of the Week, while Pressley earned Specialist of the Week accolades.
A junior middle blocker, Przulj averaged 3.20 kills and 3.00 digs per set to go with seven service aces, three blocks and a .212 attack percentage in leading the Braves to a 3-1 weekend at the UNC Pembroke Invitational. The Belgrade, Serbia native began the weekend with 12 kills, eight digs and two service aces in a three-set win over Felician before adding 13 kills, 10 digs and one ace in a 3-1 win over Lenoir-Rhyne. On Saturday, Przulj tallied 15 kills, 22 digs, four aces and two blocks in a five-set win over (RV) Embry-Riddle (Fla.) before closing the weekend with eight kills, five digs and one block in a loss to (RV) Wingate.
Pressley, a native of Indian Trail, North Carolina, powered the UNC Pembroke offense on the week. In four matches the redshirt-sophomore setter averaged 9.67 assists and 2.93 digs per set with six blocks, three service aces and seven kills. Pressley dished out 36 assists to go with nine digs, three blocks and two kills in the win over Felician and followed that performance with 42 assists, 10 digs, one block and two kills in the win over Lenoir-Rhyne. Against Embry-Riddle (Fla.), Pressley tallied 44 assists, 18 digs, two kills, one block and one service ace in the victory. She also had 23 assists, seven digs, one ace and one block against Wingate.
