Maleiya Hill of Mount Olive Named Women's Basketball Freshman of the Month
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Maleiya Hill of Mount Olive has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women's Basketball for December.
A 5-foot-4 freshman guard, Hill averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game while starting all seven games for the Trojans in December. She converted 53.3 percent (24-of-45) from the floor and scored in double-figures in three games. She also posted four contests with at least five assists.
A native of Durham, North Carolina, Hill had her top performances of the year in a pair of overtime wins this month. She finished with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting with five rebounds, six assists, one block, and one steal over 36 minutes on Dec. 14 in a 71-65 overtime win against Emmanuel in conference play. Hill finished 2022 with a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting while adding three rebounds, six assists and five steals in a 95-91 double-overtime victory versus USC Aiken on Dec. 31. The latter performance earned her Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors.
