Delsin Burkhart of UNC Pembroke and Joshua Faison of Mount Olive Collect Men’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Delsin Burkhart of UNC Pembroke and Joshua Faison of Mount Olive have been named the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas men’s indoor track & field for the week ending Jan. 29, 2023.
Burkhart was selected as the Track Athlete of the Week, while Faison garnered Field Athlete of the Week accolades for the second time this season.
A redshirt junior from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Burkhart claimed top honors in the 1000-meter Run and placed seventh in the Mile Run at the Winter Classic this past weekend. Burkhart shattered a 44-year-old school record in the 1000-meter Run while also recording personal-best times in both events. Burkhart’s time of 4:23.20 in the Mile is currently tops in Conference Carolinas this indoor season.
A senior from Clayton, North Carolina, Faison registered a second-place finish this past Saturday in the shot put while competing at the VMI Winter Classic. He achieved a distance of 16.58 meters (54-4.75 feet) on his second attempt to finish as the runner-up in the event. Faison continues to hold the top spot in the conference in the shot put while ranking sixth in the weight throw.
