Conference Carolinas Tuesday Weekly Award Winners

  • Offensive Player of the Week
    Logan Parry, Belmont Abbey

    A senior forward from Greensboro, North Carolina, Logan Parry of Belmont Abbey finished the last week of the regular season with seven points on three goals and one assist. 

    In Belmont Abbey’s Northwest Division-clinching 6-1 conference win over King, Parry scored twice. She had a goal and an assist in Belmont Abbey’s 4-0 conference win over Young Harris to finish out the regular season. 

    Parry concluded the regular season second in Conference Carolinas in points (37) and goals (18). She bookended the regular season as a weekly award winner. She also claimed the honor after the first week of play during the 2023 regular season. 

    Defensive Player of the Week
    Cara Davis, Barton

    A senior goalkeeper from Angier, North Carolina, Cara Davis of Barton allowed just one goal in a 1-0-1 week. 

    Davis first made five saves in helping Barton to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Shaw. She followed that up by collecting four saves in an impressive 0-0 road conference tie at North Greenville. She faced 14 shots in the match. 

    Davis closed out the regular season second in Conference Carolinas in save percentage (.789).

  • Offensive Player of the Week
    Walter Gomez, Belmont Abbey

    A graduate student from Charlotte, North Carolina, Walter Gomez of Belmont Abbey finished out the regular season by scoring twice last week. 

    In Belmont Abbey’s league win over King, Gomez scored the first goal of the match in the 10th minute off an assist from Davis McBee. Gomez also scored Belmont Abbey’s goal in a strong 1-1 road conference draw with Young Harris. He scored the opening goal of the match in the 83rd minute off an assist from Dorian Samo. 

    Gomez finished the regular season tied for second in Conference Carolinas with seven goals on the season. 

    Defensive Player of the Week
    Axel Engren, Mount Olive

    A junior goalkeeper from Sundsvall, Sweden, Axel Engren registered a shutout victory in conference play against Chowan. 

    In Mount Olive’s 2-0 league win over Chowan, Engren made five saves and faced 11 shots. He also made a stellar diving save in the 29th minute on a penalty kick. The win was Mount Olive’s first road win in Murfreesboro, North Carolina over Chowan since the 2018 season. 

    Engren is second in Conference Carolinas in save percentage at .802. He is also fourth in in the conference in goals against average (1.07). Engren concluded the regular season by claiming weekly award honors for the last two weeks.
