BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C.– Top-seeded UNC Pembroke captured its third consecutive Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Championship since joining the league in the Fall of 2021 with a 2-1 win over No. 2 seed Belmont Abbey at Truist Stadium at Bryan Park in Browns Summit on Sunday evening.

The Braves scored first just 34 seconds into the match as Anna Grossheim sent a through ball from midfield and tournament MVP Ashleigh Harris netted her second goal in as many games as she beat the keeper far post. Less than three minutes later, UNCP got on the board again as the Crusaders’ keeper stopped a Mercy Bell attack but the rebound found the foot of Abigail Lowry who lofted the ball from 23 yards out into the empty net for the two goal lead. The Abbey dominated much of the play in the second half and cut into the lead in the 49th minute as Haley Long sent a cross into the box that found the head of Logan Parry to make it 2-1. However, the UNC Pembroke defense stiffened to secure the victory.

The Braves outshot the Crusaders 17-12 in the contest including a 7-5 margin in shots on frame while Belmont Abbey had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

After the match Conference Carolinas recognized the 10-member All-Tournament team which is listed below.
