UNC Pembroke Named No. 7 seed in Southeast Regional of NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championship

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Less than 24 hours after capturing the program’s third consecutive Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Championship title, UNC Pembroke discovered their opponent in the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer National Championship which begins on Thursday, Nov. 16 in Salisbury, North Carolina.
UNC Pembroke is 12-3-3 and received the No. 7 seed in the Southeast Region where they will square off against No. 2 seed and region host Catawba (17-2-1) on Thursday at 6 p.m. The winner will advance to the second round on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. They will face the winner of third-seeded North Georgia (14-3-3) and sixth-seeded Wingate (14-4-1).
The Braves are led by Conference Carolinas Player of the Year Mercy Bell, tournament MVP Ashleigh Harris and a dominant defense. They enter the tournament having allowed just 21 goals in 18 games, 1.17 per game. The Braves average over three goals per game and have a .764 save percentage. Bell is tied with three other players for the NCAA Division II lead in total goals with 19 while the team’s 3.17 goals per game ranks sixth-best in the country.
This is the seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament for UNC Pembroke (2008, 2010, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022) and their third automatic bid.
