Ronan O’Neill of Southern Wesleyan to Represent Conference Carolinas at NCAA Division II Cross Country Nationals

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships get underway Saturday, No. 18 with 34 teams from each gender as well as 28 men’s individuals and 27 women. Conference Carolinas will be represented by Ronan O’Neill of Southern Wesleyan.

O’Neill earned automatic qualification at the Southeast Regional on Nov. 4 with an 11th-place finish. A sophomore from Pendleton, South Carolina, O’Neill is making his first cross country national championship appearance after he posted a time of 30:01.19 which broke every school record in the race. His 5K split was 14:45, while his 8K split was 24:02. He posted an 8K time of 24:45.9 in winning the individual title at the 2023 Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country Championship. 

The championships will be held at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri. Missouri Southern State University will serve as the host. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. ET, followed by the men’s race at 12:15 p.m. ET.
