Four Conference Carolinas Student-Athletes Named to AVCA Southeast Region Team

GREENVILLE, S.C.  - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released the 2023 Division II All-Region teams and Conference Carolinas had four student-athletes recognized in the Southeast Region.

Abigail Durham of North Greenville and Vanja Pruzlj of UNC Pembroke were named to the Southeast Region first team while Alaina Emminger and Jocelyn Martin of Emmanuel each earned honorable mention accolades.

Przulj, a Conference Carolinas All-Conference first team and All-Tournament team honoree, led the Braves to the East division regular season crown and a runner-up conference tournament finish. The 6-foot senior outside hitter from Belgrade, Serbia, finished the season leading the league in kills (566), kills per set (4.68), points (639), total service aces (57) and points per set (5.28). 

Durham, the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year for the third straight season, finished the season second in kills (472), kills per set (4.45), points (535.5) and points per set (5.05). The 6-foot senior right side from Easley, South Carolina was also ninth in attack percentage at .270. 

A first-team All-Conference Carolinas and All-Tournament team selection, Emminger led the Lions to a share of the Southeast division title and the 2023 Conference Carolinas tournament crown. The 6-foot senior outside hitter from Lilburn, Georgia, finished the season fifth in the league in kills per set (3.35) and led the team with 318 kills. She hit .261 on the season and totaled 39 blocks.

Martin, a 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter from Easley, South Carolina, finished third on the team with 267 kills and hit .233 on the season with 37 blocks.

Durham and Pruzlj are eligible for AVCA All-America honors which will be released early next month.
