Conference Carolinas has Four Student-Athletes Named USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Region
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country All-Region honorees and Conference Carolinas had four student-athletes from four separate institutions recognized.
Three men, Ángel Galán of Erskine, Hayden Goode of North Greenville and Ronan O’Neill of Southern Wesleyan, and one female, Moureen Kimaiyo of UNC Pembroke, earned the honors.
O’Neill won the 2023 Conference Carolinas Men’s Cross Country Championship and was the league’s Runner of the Year. He was also the lone conference cross country student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship finals with an 11th place finish at the Southeast regional.
Kimaiyo was the 2023 Conference Carolinas Women’s Cross Country Championship individual winner and earned Runner and Freshman of the Year honors for Conference Carolinas. Kimaiyo just missed qualifying for the national championship final as she placed 14th at the regional event.
Goode and Galán both finished inside the top-25 at the NCAA DII Southeast Regional this past weekend with Goode placing 17th and Galan coming in 24th.
A total of 200 men from 83 different programs and 200 women from 91 different programs earned the distinction of All-Region by virtue of a top-25 finish at one of the eight regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards. The complete list of awardees is available here.
