Conference Carolinas Tuesday Weekly Award Winners

  • Track Athlete of the Week
    Grady Clark, Southern Wesleyan

    A sophomore from Piedmont, South Carolina, Grady Clark of Southern Wesleyan set the new 1000m record for the Warriors with a time of 2:33.26 at the Clemson Opener. 

    Clark was also part of the 4x400m relay team that took fifth with a time of 3:21.20. 

    Field Athlete of the Week
    Clathton Henfield, King

    A senior from Freeport in the Grand Bahamas, Clathton Henfield of King took second in the long jump at the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational with a mark of 6.79 meters. 

    Henfield also set the new school record in the 300m with a time of 35.82. The time allowed him to finish second in the event.

    Ermay Vazquez Adame, King

    A freshman from Commerce, Georgia, Ermay Vazquez Adame of King broke the Tornado women’s indoor track & field all-time record in the 1000m with a time of 3:08.80. The time bested the previous record by 10 seconds and allowed her to finish first in the event at the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational.

    Vazquez Adame also took first in the 5000m with a time of 19:12.31. She finished second in the 800m with a time of 2:26.08.

    Field Athlete of the Week
    Ruthie Fripp, King

    A senior from Watertown, Tennessee, Ruthie Fripp of King set a personal-best in the weight throw with a mark of 13.94 meters. The mark allowed her to finish fifth in the event at the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational. 

    Fripp also competed in the shot put, marking 8.98 meters.

  • Wrestler of the Week
    Devon Bell, Mount Olive

    A redshirt freshman from Wilmington, North Carolina, Devon Bell of Mount Olive made his season debut for the Trojans and recorded a win via fall in a 36-18 win over Greensboro at 197 pounds on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Trojan Duals. 

    In the opening round, he produced a pair of takedowns before pinning Khalil Belk of Greensboro in the first period. With the win, Mount Olive captured its fifth straight team win to improve to 7-1 overall in dual meet competition.
