Three Conference Carolinas Student-Athletes Named CSC Academic All-America

GREENVILLE, S.C.  - The 2023 Academic All-America® Women’s Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Three Conference Carolinas student-athletes earned recognition on Wednesday.

Anna Grossheim of UNC Pembroke was a first team selection for the second straight season while Mia Muckenthaler and Logan Parry of Belmont Abbey earned second team laurels.

Grossheim, a senior with a 3.99 grade-point average in business administration, was a Conference Carolinas first team All-Conference, third team D2 CCA All-American and second team United Soccer Coaches All-Region performer. A native of Garner, North Carolina, Grossheim led the league in shots (102) and shots on goal (55), as well as leading the nation in shots per game (5.37) and shots on goal per game (2.89). She also led Conference Carolinas in assists (12) and finished tied for fifth in points (26). Grossheim tallied at least one point in 12 matches this season and broke both the UNCP single-season and career (33) records for assists. She was the only repeat first team selection in Division II.

Muckenthaler is a junior defender from Mooresville, North Carolina with a 3.94 grade-point average majoring in exercise and sport science at The Abbey. The Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year led a backline that led the conference in fewest shots allowed. Additionally, she was a first team All-Conference Carolinas, second team D2 CCA All-Region and second team United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection. 

Parry is a senior forward from Greensboro, North Carolina who currently has a 3.56 GPA and is an accounting and finance major at Belmont Abbey. Following the conclusion of the Conference Carolinas tournament, she was among the nation's leaders in scoring with 19 goals and a pair of assists. She was a first team All-Conference Carolinas selection and earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team for the second time.

Sixteen of the 33 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women’s soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.94.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
