United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams Feature 16 from Conference Carolinas
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The United Soccer Coaches (USC) released the 2023 Division II All-Region teams and Conference Carolinas had 16 student-athletes from six institutions earn recognition.
In women’s soccer, Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, Mercy Bell of UNC Pembroke, was a first team selection at forward while her teammates Nicole Cook (defense) and Anna Grossheim (midfield) were named to the second team and Ashleigh Harris (forward) earned third team honors.
Belmont Abbey had two student-athletes recognized in second team defender Mia Muckenthaler, the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, and third team forward Logan Parry.
Barton midfielder Kassie Krul and Francis Marion forward Kristina Syragakis were second team selections while Young Harris forward Alexis Scarpinato was a third team honoree.
On the men’s side, Francis Marion and Young Harris each had three selections while Chowan had one.
Young Harris had two second team awardees in midfielders Tomas Kleinpenning, the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, and Patricio Padilla as well as third team defender Ivar NaAga.
Sebastian Garcia, Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, earned third team defender honors as did his teammate Philipp Worner, a midfielder. Patriots’ forward Edorta Cabieces earned second team honors.
Harri Lovett represented Chowan as a third team defender.
