Kyler Pickard of Belmont Abbey Selected Men’s Wrestling Weekly Award Winner
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Kyler Pickard of Belmont Abbey has been chosen as the final South Atlantic Conference Carolinas men’s wrestling weekly award winner of the 2022-23 regular season.
A freshman from Rockwell, North Carolina, Pickard put together a strong bout to close the regular season in the 174-pound weight class by defeating Limestone’s Hunter Haven in a 7-6 decision. Haven entered the match after being ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in Super Region II at 174.
As a freshman, Pickard has stepped up and improved over the course of the season, which included winning five of his final six bouts of the regular season. He ended his first regular season on a four-bout winning streak.
