Excitement Continues on Second Day of Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The excitement continued on the second day of the 2023 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships at the Kingsport Aquatic Center on Thursday, Feb. 16.
Susana Ungo of Emmanuel captured the new championship record in the women’s 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:05.41. In addition, UNC Pembroke’s Mariel Mencia Martinez set the new mark in the women’s 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.45 in the prelims on Thursday. She became the conference champion in the finals with a time of 23.58.
Emmanuel’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team also collected a new championship record with a time of 1:20.91. The foursome consisted of Bartosz Mielniczuk, Anton Akopian, Mykhailo Semenov and Luigi Da Silva.
Emmanuel enters the third day of the Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships owning the team lead in men’s and women’s swimming. UNC Pembroke is second in the women’s standings, while Lees-McRae is second in the men’s standings.

The third day of the scheduled four-day Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships are slated for Friday, Feb. 17. The preliminaries will get underway at 10 a.m. on Friday with the finals scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
Conference Carolinas will also stream the senior festivities live at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.
The preliminaries and finals each day will be streamed live on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network at
ConferenceCarolinasDN.com. Commentary will be provided for the finals each day, but the preliminaries will just be video with no sound.
