Emmanuel Repeats as Men’s and Women’s Conference Carolinas Swimming Champions

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Emmanuel closed out the fourth and final day of the 2023 Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships by taking home the team title in both men’s and women’s swimming for the second consecutive season at the Kingsport Aquatic Center on Saturday night.
 
Emmanuel finished with 802.5 points to take the men’s team title. Lees-McRae was the next closest to Emmanuel with 533 total team points. Barton secured a third place team finish in the final men’s team standings with 522 points.
 
In the final women’s team standings Emmanuel held off a day three rally by UNC Pembroke to capture the title with 700 team points. The Braves finished second with 611 points followed by Barton in third with 539.
 


Five more championship records fell on the final day of competition beginning with the first race of the night, the women’s 200 backstroke, as Isabell Schiller of Emmanuel set the championship mark with a time of 2:02.92. Diana Suprun, also from Emmanuel, set the new mark in the women’s 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.39 and Britta Schwengle of UNC Pembroke set the championship record in the women’s 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:34.43.

The other two records fell in the men’s events as Luigi Da Silva of Emmanuel tied the men’s 200 breaststroke championship mark with a time of 1:57.12 and David Szlobodnyik of Barton set the new mark in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:49.76.
