Jasmine Stanley of Francis Marion and Ashley Allen of King Named Women's Basketball Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Jasmine Stanley of Francis Marion and Ashley Allen of King collected the Conference Carolinas women’s basketball weekly honors for the week ending Feb. 19, 2023.
Stanley earned Player of the Week honors for the third time this season, while Allen picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors.
A senior forward/center from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Stanley averaged 18.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game in two wins last week for Francis Marion that extended its winning streak to 17 games. The 17-game winning streak equals the third-longest winning streak in program history and it also extends the third-longest active streak in NCAA Division II women’s basketball. Stanley collected a double-double in both games. She first brought down 12 rebounds to go along with 12 points in a 73-68 road conference win at Barton on Feb. 15. Stanley followed that up with a career-best 25 points and 18 rebounds in a home conference win over North Greenville on Feb. 18. Stanley now has seven double-doubles on the 2022-23 season.
A sophomore guard from Sterling, Virginia, Allen averaged an impressive 3.0 steals per game in three league games for King last week. She also averaged 7.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Allen put together her best performance of the week in King’s conference game with Chowan on Feb. 19. She finished her efforts with seven steals to go along with 16 points and eight rebounds. The 16 points tied her career-high in the category. Allen was equally strong on the offensive and defensive glass on the week with nine defensive boards and nine offensive rebounds.
