Daniel Hammond of Mount Olive Tabbed Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Daniel Hammond of Mount Olive has been tabbed as the Player of the Week for Conference Carolinas men’s tennis for the week ending Feb. 19, 2023.
A freshman from Whangarei, New Zealand, Hammond wins the honor for the second consecutive week.
Hammond registered a 2-0 mark at No. 1 doubles last week. In the first position in doubles, Hammond and Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira stretched their winning streak to three straight. The duo posted a 6-4 victory over Tomas Balazi and Leon Petko of Campbell last Tuesday. Over the weekend, Hammond and Oliveira knocked off the No. 15 nationally-ranked doubles team of Floridan Walcher and Luka Brown of Wingate by a 7-5 margin.
In singles play, Hammond picked up a straight sets victory 6-3, 6-3 over top-50 nationally-ranked Gabriel Constantino of Wingate.
