AUGUSTA, GA -- Barton junior guard Donaven Hairston has been named the Division II men's basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA on Tuesday. The Atlanta, Georgia, native led the Bulldogs to a pair of wins last week, averaging 33 points per game.

He opened his week with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists against Francis Marion. He then turned in one of the signature games of the season as he exploded for 52 points in a win over Southern Wesleyan. That ties a Barton single-game scoring record and is the most points in a single game by any Division II men's basketball player this season. He hit 17-of-24 shots in that contest and 16-of-17 from the free-throw line, adding seven more rebounds, three assists and two steals.

For the week, Hairston shot 57% (21-37) from the field, 88% (21-24) from the line and added 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He is currently ranked sixth in Conference Carolinas in scoring and second in steals.

The Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week is selected by the Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2CIDA). See all of this seasons' winners here.
