Emmanuel, UNC Pembroke Student-Athletes Selected for NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee announced Wednesday the qualifiers for the 2022 NCAA DII men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships to be held March 7-11 at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Conference Carolinas had four swimmers qualify, two alternates and three relays make the list.
 
Emmanuel led all conference institutions with four qualifiers, an alternate and three relays while UNC Pembroke had one alternate.
 
Luigi Da Silva and Bartosz Mielniczuk will represent the Lions individually while Mykhailo Semenov is an alternate in the 100 backstroke. Da Silva is seeded second in the 200 Backstroke with an “A” cut time of 52.60, he was also ranked third in the 200 Breaststroke with a “B” cut time of 1:56.51. Mielniczuk is seeded seventh in both the 50 Freestyle (19.68) and 100 Freestyle (43.49) with a pair of “B” cut times. He was also invited to compete in the 200 Freestyle where he is ranked 41st with a time of 1:39.51.

The Lions also qualified three relays. They qualified in the 200 Medley Relay (1:28.19), the 400 Medley Relay (3:14.26) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (2:58.84).
 
Diana Suprun and Susana Ungo will represent Emmanuel in the women’s championship while Mariel Mencia Martinez of UNC Pembroke is an alternate in the 50 Freestyle. Suprun qualified in both the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Breaststroke while Ungo will compete in the 200 Butterfly and the 400 Individual Medley.

Suprun is seeded sixth in the 200 Breaststroke with a “B” cut time of 2:15.20 and 25th in the 100 Breaststroke with a “B” time of 1:03.55. Ungo is seeded 19th in the Butterfly with a “B’ time of 2:03.48 and 22nd in the Individual Medley with a time of 4:26.07.
