Belmont Abbey, Emmanuel and UNC Pembroke Ranked in NCAA Southeast Region Polls
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas had three schools ranked in the second NCAA Southeast Region Men’s and Women’s Basketball Polls, which were released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
UNC Pembroke was ranked No. 1 in the men’s region while Emmanuel broke into the rankings at No. 10. On the women’s side Belmont Abbey was ranked No. 10.
The Braves, who fell to No. 9 nationally in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, own a 25-2 record on the season, are 17-2 in conference play and will enter next week’s Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Men’s Basketball Championship as the No. 1 seed.
The Lions will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and finished the regular season 21-7 overall and 17-3 in league play. They enter the tournament on a 14-game win streak.
The Crusaders continued to receive votes in the most recent Women’s Basketball Coaches Association poll and are currently 21-4 on the season and 18-1 in league play. The Abbey is one win away from claiming the No. 1 seed in the women’s conference tournament next week and have won their last four games.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
