Conference Carolinas Has Two Individuals, One Relay Selected for 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2023 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships and two Conference Carolinas student-athletes and one relay representing two institutions were selected to compete. 

Mount Olive had one individual and one relay selected while Southern Wesleyan had one individual as well.

Jaylin Reeves is the lone track student-athlete to be selected for Conference Carolinas as the senior will compete in the 200m where she is seeded 22nd with a time of 24.26. Reeves will join Vinesha Briggs, Channie Jefferson and Jaiden Moody on the 4x400m relay team which is seeded 13th with a time of 3:46.25.

The third selection to the Championships for Conference Carolinas is the back-to-back conference Field Athlete of the Year Mycherie Onwuzuruike of Southern Wesleyan. Onwuzuruike is seeded 18th in the event with a mark of 5.91m (19-4.75).

With a cap on the total number of student-athletes at the indoor championships, only the top 16 individual entries and top 12 relays are guaranteed to be selected. The remainder of the meet is filled in depending on doubles and "strength" of event calculation.

A total of 540 participants, 270 men and 270 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event.

The championships will be held March 10-11 in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Norfolk State University and Visit Virginia Beach will serve as co-hosts of the championships.
