Five Teams, Seven Student-Athletes Represent Conference Carolinas in NCBWA Preseason Polls and Awards List

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced the 2023 Division II Preseason Top 25 and All-Region polls as well as the Preseason All-Region and All-America teams and several Conference Carolinas teams and student-athletes were honored. 

In the rankings, North Greenville topped the national poll with 468 points and 17-of-19 first-place votes while UNC Pembroke received votes in the poll. In the Southeast Region, the Crusaders topped the poll with 90 points and all nine first-place votes while UNC Pembroke ranked fifth with 54 points and Belmont Abbey ranked seventh with 34 points. Mount Olive also received votes in the poll. The complete poll is available here.

North Greenville (John Michael Faile, Marek Chlup, Reece Fields) and Mount Olive (Jack Casbarro, Alden Cottle, Vito Patierno) each had three student-athletes on the All-Southeast Region team while Francis Marion (Will Hardee) had one honoree.

North Greenville and Mount Olive were each also represented on the Preseason All-America teams as Faile was named first team catcher, Chlup was a first team outfielder, Casbarro was the second team second basemen and Fields was an honorable mention starting pitcher.
