Men’s Basketball Developmental Championship Preview
GREENVILLE, S.C.– The Conference Carolinas men’s basketball developmental championships will take place on Monday, Feb. 6 and Monday, Feb. 13 on the campuses of Barton, King and Belmont Abbey.
The event, which is a unique championship opportunity for developmental teams within Conference Carolinas, will consist of a preliminary round at Barton and King on Feb. 6 with the championship slated for Feb. 13 at Belmont Abbey.
The Barton bracket will feature Barton, two teams from Belmont Abbey, Francis Marion and Mount Olive. Game one features Francis Marion and Mount Olive on court one at 12p.m. Barton and Belmont Abbey B will play on court two in game two also at 12 p.m. At 2 p.m. Chowan will host the winner of game two and court one while Belmont Abbey A will host the game one winner on court two.
The Barton consolation bracket will take place at 4 p.m. with the losers of game one and game four squaring off on court two and the losers of game two and game three will play on court one. If the loser of game three and game four have already played twice then the loser of game one and the loser of game 2 will play on court one at 4 p.m. The Barton bracket championship game will be held at 5:30 p.m. on court one.
The King bracket will feature Converse, King, Emmanuel, two teams from Erskine and Southern Wesleyan. Game one will feature Southern Wesleyan and Erskine B on court one while Converse will face King in game two on court two, both games will be at 12 p.m. Game three will feature Emmanuel against the game one winner on court two while Erskine A will face the game two winner in game four on court one at 2 p.m.
The King consolation bracket will take place at 4 p.m. with the losers of game one and game four squaring off on court two and the losers of game two and game three will play on court one. If the loser of game three and game four have already played twice then the loser of game one and the loser of game 2 will play on court one at 4 p.m. The King bracket championship game will be held at 5:30 p.m. on court one.
Games 3-7 at both preliminary sites will begin 30 minutes after the previous game.
The championship final will be held at Belmont Abbey on Monday, Feb. 13 with a 6:30 p.m. tip.

Earlier this fall Conference Carolinas announced that a developmental championship will be held in men’s and women’s soccer, men’s basketball and baseball. The developmental teams will be composed of student-athletes that have either not competed at the varsity level in 2022-23 or have competed sparingly at the varsity level by the time of the championship.
