Kate Matuza of Barton and Madison Pena of Emmanuel Earn Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Kate Matuza of Barton and Madison Pena of Emmanuel were selected as the Conference Carolinas weekly award winners for women’s lacrosse for the week ending Feb. 5.
Matuza was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Pena earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
A sophomore attack from Hampstead, North Carolina, Matuza scored a game-high five goals in the Bulldogs’ 17-10 season opening win at Coker on Saturday, Feb. 4. Shae scored on five shots, was 1-for-1 on free-position attempts and had one ground ball.
Pena, a junior midfielder/defender from Los Angeles, California, won four draw controls and collected two ground balls with four shots, three on goal, in the Lions’ loss to Mars Hill on Saturday.
